The Great Lakes are an important ecological resource, and there is a wealth of educational information available for students, teachers, and the general public. The monitoring program conducted by EPA-GLNPO is the primary effort of this kind in the Great Lakes, and can give the public a unique glimpse into Great Lakes research and monitoring work.
Learn how scientists conduct field research aboard a scientific vessel and read first-hand accounts of their experiences in the field. Cruise logs from the R/V Lake Guardian contain photos, video clips, and on-board journal entries from GLBMP field scientists.
- GLBMP 2007 Summer Survey: Read about the goals of this summer's cruise and life aboard a research vessel.
- Chief Scientist Log: What are the responsibilities of the chief scientist? Follow Tom Johengen as he coordinates many different aspects of the monitoring survey.
